Public Awareness Campaign for Amnesty International
Final Year Thesis Project, Department of Communication Design 2001, Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture
I designed a walk through installation that created awareness about human rights and issues relevant to Pakistan. The viewer had to walk through narrow corridors that were covered in cardboard bricks, fashioned to look like the inside of a cell, and was confronted by 4'x8' panels that were hand rendered in charcoal, talking about the universal declaration of human rights, torture, factual figures about the cases in Pakistan, and finally the viewer would feel like a prisoner themselves faced by the cell. The walk through was accompanied by sound design and lighting design and encompassed a heart wrenching video about actual torture experiences that people have had. The viewer upon experiencing all this was given printed brochures with forms for becoming a member of Amnesty International and could thus help the problem.

I graduated with the highest thesis distinction in my batch.
